The Steve Miller Band

I went to a concert last night :-)

The Steve Miller Band

Great concert. If you like his music go see his show.

What?, you say he has not produced an album in years?

He just finished recording several tracks at "Skywalker Ranch" and he played several of them.

GO SEE THE SHOW!!!!

That it was only scheduled in Wilmington. 146 miles from where I live.
The second issue I found out only after I got there.

The Steve Miller Band will roll into town Sunday October 26th for a show at 7pm (gates will open at 6pm).

The Steve Miller Band will be the first to play in the seasonal amphitheatre that IBX Promotions is creating. The seated amphitheatre, though temporary, will boast the same amenities that you would expect from a permanent facility in Charlotte or Raleigh. The amphitheatre will feature only 6,000 seats and tickets are expected to move quickly.

and this has OTHER information

Gates open at 5pm, main stage show starts at 7pm, 2nd stage in the beer garden.

That middle one is the most interesting.
first to play in the seasonal amphitheatre that IBX Promotions is creating. The seated amphitheatre, though temporary,

This mean that the seating chart normally used in permanent facilities and the one that they have on line for this one does not tell the whole story.
Most "seated amphitheatre" are on an incline so that the seat in front of you is lower than you and the seat behind you is above you.
Their "seated amphitheatre, though temporary" is a covered BASEBALL FIELD.

I have been to State fairs that used the bleachers and put rows of fold out chairs on the track and the band on the infield. They sold the track seats for a bit more than the bleachers which were "open seating" first come first seated. It works well and everyone that paid more gets a closer seat.

Last night's fiasco of seating and arrangement was the poorest excuse I have seen in a while.

First lets start with the unimportant issue. They labeled the center closest section to the stage WRONG, not only were there problems with people in the wrong seats there was NO ONE trying to correct it from the concerts staff.

The gap between the first tier of rows and the second tier was over 20 feet. (6 meters for those that want to know).

The concert started and EVERYONE stood up. Yes to dance a bit (hey it was a flat ball field)  but because there was NO angle the ones behind could not see so they had to stand. The people that had purchased "field seating"? those that paid $20 less than the seated people? Well as security was now worried about looking tough in the front of the stage Those people walked up the gap and STOOD in front of those who had paid money for that second tier seating.

That also meant that I now had multiple people actually pressing against my back trying to push me towards the stage. Adds to the concert experience.

Next:
The seated amphitheatre, though temporary, will boast the same amenities that you would expect from a permanent facility in Charlotte or Raleigh.
HMMM
This must mean that the baseball fields vending booth (sorry one booth and one... tent) are the same as the multiple food vendors in Raleigh. OH and the two beer tents equal the multiple ones.

$3 for a hotdog, $4 for a 20 oz soda. (No you were not allowed to bring in anything)

Oh and the rows of  porta-potties are equal to all the toilets.

and as you may have noted above. "5:00p to 11:00p", "show at 7pm (gates will open at 6pm). ", Gates open at 5pm, main stage show starts at 7pm,"

They actually opened at 6 and the show started at 7:30pm and ended at 9:32pm.

And this was the "planned" inauguration of a new facility.

My issues were with the venue not the concert.

One of the more fun concerts I have been to
